A ticket was transferred or resold to you through the Shotgun app, and now you want to resell it or ask the organizer for a refund?
Here's who receives the money and what you need to know.

Refunds follow the payment, not the ticket.
When a ticket is resold or an organizer refunds an order because an event was canceled or changed, the money goes back to the payment method used to pay for that order on Shotgun.
The destination can't be changed, and it doesn't depend on who is holding the ticket when the refund is issued.
👉 I received the ticket as a gift. Can I get the refund?
If someone gave you the ticket through the Shotgun app, the payment was made by that person, not by you.
A gift transfer moves the ticket, but doesn't transfer the payment or the order. If the order is refunded, the money goes back to the person who originally paid for it.
👉 I bought the ticket through a Shotgun resale link. Who gets the refund?
If someone used “Resell to a friend” and you paid for the ticket directly through the Shotgun link they sent you, you are the person who paid for that ticket on Shotgun.
The purchase is associated with your order, so if it’s refunded, the money goes back to the payment method you used for the purchase.
The same applies if you later resell the ticket through Shotgun: the resale payment is handled according to the resale transaction.

👉 I paid the person outside Shotgun. Can I get that money back from Shotgun?
If you paid the person outside Shotgun, for example by cash, bank transfer, or another payment app, Shotgun has no record of that payment.
The payment we can identify is the one originally made on Shotgun, so if the organizer refunds that order, the money goes back to the person who made the original Shotgun payment.
We also can't verify or refund a payment made outside Shotgun. If you paid someone directly for the ticket, recovering that money is a matter between you and the person who received the payment.
