You want to give your ticket to someone you know or sell it directly to them instead of putting it on the open market? Shotgun lets you do both through the app.
This article explains how to send your ticket as a gift or resell it to someone you know, what the other person needs to do, and how to cancel the transfer before it's completed.

Why don't I have the transfer option?
👉 How do I send my ticket to someone I know?
Transfers only work in the Shotgun app, not on the website.
Free and paid transfers start from the same place. You choose what you want to do at the third step:
- Send as a gift: the person receives the ticket for free, and you aren't refunded.
- Resell to a friend: the person pays for the ticket, and you're refunded once they complete the payment.
- Open the Shotgun app and go to My tickets.
- Tap the ticket you want to send to open its QR code.
- Tap Transfer, then choose Send as a gift or Resell to a friend.
- Tap Transfer ticket.
- Copy the link and send it to the person receiving the ticket.
Your ticket then shows Pending transfer and remains valid until the other person completes their side.

👉 What does the other person need to do?
They need to open the link and, depending on the option you selected, either accept the transfer or pay for the ticket.
Once they complete the process, the ticket is added to their Shotgun account and yours is cancelled and marked as sent.
Until they complete their side, nothing changes on your ticket.

👉 How much does it cost?
Sending your ticket as a gift is free for both of you.
Reselling to someone you know costs less than putting the ticket on the open market: only the original ticket fees apply, and there's no 15% resale fee. Those fees are deducted from the amount you get back, so your refund is slightly lower than what you paid.

👉 Can I cancel the transfer?
Yes, as long as the other person hasn't accepted the gift or paid for the ticket.
- Open the ticket in My tickets.
- Tap Pending transfer on the QR code.
- Tap Cancel transfer.
The ticket goes back to its normal status in your account, and you can use it or send it to someone else.

👉 Can I get my ticket back once the transfer is completed?
No. Once the other person has accepted the gift or paid for the ticket, the transfer is final and can't be undone from your side.
If they agree to return the ticket to you, they can transfer it back to your account.
👉 Why don't I have the transfer option?
Some tickets can't be transferred, including group tickets, tickets with assigned seats, reduced or restricted tickets, and tickets for events where the organizer has turned off transfers.
Transfer and resale aren't always available together. On some tickets, you may be able to transfer but not resell, while on others the reverse may apply.
