You want to resell your ticket or give it to someone else, but you don't see the Resell or Transfer option?
This can happen when the ticket or event isn't eligible for resale or transfer.
Here's what to check and what you can do next.
👉 Why can't I resell or transfer my ticket?
There are several reasons why these options may not be available:
- The resale window has closed. A ticket can only be resold up to 1 hour before the end of its validity window.
- Your ticket type isn't eligible. Some reduced, member, promoter, VIP, special-offer, or other restricted rates may not be eligible for resale or transfer.
- Your ticket has special conditions. Group tickets, bundles, numbered seats, and other specific ticket types may not support resale or transfer.
- The ticket was bought at a physical point of sale. Tickets purchased outside the Shotgun online checkout may not be eligible.
- The organizer has disabled resale or transfer. Availability can depend on the settings chosen for the event.
- The ticket wasn't purchased through Shotgun. Tickets bought through another platform or transferred outside Shotgun can't be added to your Shotgun account or resold through Shotgun.
If you don't see the option after checking these situations, contact the Shotgun Care team so we can check the ticket.
What we need from you:
- Name of the event
- Order number
👉 Until when can I resell my ticket?
You can resell your ticket up to 1 hour before the end of its validity window.
For example, if your ticket says “entry before midnight,” the resale option will remain available until 11pm.
Once that window has passed, the Resell option disappears, even if resale is enabled for the event.
👉 Can I get a refund if resale isn't available?
The fact that resale isn't available doesn't automatically make your ticket eligible for a refund.
Refunds depend on the organizer's refund policy and the specific circumstances of the event. The organizer is responsible for deciding whether a refund can be offered.
If you want to request a refund, you can contact the organizer directly through your ticket: Ticket → More → Contact organizer.

👉 Can I give or sell my ticket outside Shotgun?
If resale or transfer isn't available, you may be tempted to send the ticket to someone directly or sell it through another website or resale platform.
You can do this, but we strongly recommend using Shotgun's own transfer and resale tools whenever they're available.
When a ticket is given or sold outside Shotgun:
- The ticket remains attached to the original buyer's Shotgun account. Sending a ticket PDF or QR code to someone else doesn't transfer the ticket to their account.
- We can't guarantee the status of a ticket shared outside Shotgun. For example, if the same ticket is shared with more than one person, or the original buyer uses it first, another person may be refused at the door because the ticket has already been used.
- Payments made outside Shotgun aren't processed or verified by us, which means we can't confirm whether a payment was made or help recover it if something goes wrong.
- Buying a ticket through a third-party resale website doesn't transfer the original Shotgun order to your account, so we can't manage the transaction on that website or confirm the conditions under which the ticket was sold.
- If there's a problem with the payment, seller, buyer, or ticket, we may not have the information or control needed to resolve the issue or provide a refund for an amount paid outside Shotgun.
This applies whether you're giving the ticket to someone for free or selling it directly to them.
If you choose to buy, sell, or give a ticket outside Shotgun, make sure you understand these limitations. We can help with the Shotgun ticket itself when possible, but we can't guarantee or take responsibility for a transaction, payment, or agreement made outside our platform.
