You got a ticket through the waiting list, but the amount charged is higher than the price shown on your ticket or the event page?
This is because waiting-list purchases can include the ticket price plus a 15% waiting list fee.
Here's how the amount is calculated and why your ticket may show a lower price.
👉 Why was I charged more than the ticket price?
The amount charged for a waiting-list ticket can include:
- The ticket price. When a ticket becomes available through the waiting list, it is offered at the price available at that time. Ticket prices can increase during an event's sales period, so the price may be higher than the one you saw when you first joined the waiting list.
- A 15% waiting list fee. This fee applies to waiting-list purchases and is subject to a cap. See Shotgun fees for more details.
The ticket you receive may also be from a different ticket category than the one that was sold out when you joined the waiting list. If that category has a higher price, the amount charged can be higher as well.
👉 How much could I be charged when I join the waiting list?
The maximum amount you may be charged is shown when you join the waiting list, and this amount already includes the 15% waiting list fee.
It's important to check this amount before confirming your place on the waiting list because the purchase happens automatically when an eligible ticket becomes available for you.

👉 Why does my ticket show a lower price than what I paid?
The price shown on your PDF ticket or under the QR code in the app is the ticket price. It doesn't include the 15% waiting list fee, which is why the amount shown on your ticket can be lower than the total amount charged to your card.
If you later put the ticket back on sale through Shotgun, the resale amount is based on the ticket price, not the waiting list fee. The waiting list fee isn't refunded. See My refund is incomplete for more information.
