If you can't remember your Shotgun password, you can reset it yourself, right from the login screen. This article walks you through the reset, and covers what to do if the link or the email don't show up.
👉 Reset your password
You don't need to be logged in to reset your password. It starts from the login screen, on the Shotgun app or on the website.
- Open the login screen.
- Select Forgot password.
- Enter the email address linked to your Shotgun account.
- Select Confirm.
You'll get an email with a link to set a new password. It usually arrives within a few minutes, so check your spam folder if you don't see it.
👉 The reset link doesn't work
If your reset link won't open or shows an error, here's what to check, starting with the most common cause.
- Request a new link from the login screen, since reset links expire after a short time.
- Use the most recent email you received, since requesting a new link cancels any older one.
- On the website, try a different browser and make sure you're not in private browsing mode.
- Check your connection, and try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
👉 You're not receiving the reset email
If you never see the reset email arrive, check the following first.
- Confirm you're using the exact email address linked to your Shotgun account, and not another one you also use.
- Look for typos, or a stray space before or after the address.
- Check your spam, junk and promotions folders, and search your mailbox for Shotgun.
If you've checked all of this and still nothing arrives, the issue isn't the password reset itself: it means our emails aren't reaching your mailbox at all. See 📭 I'm not receiving emails from Shotgun for how to fix that.
👉 You signed up with Facebook or Apple
If you created your Shotgun account using Facebook login or your Apple ID, your account doesn't have a password. You sign in through Facebook or Apple instead, so there's nothing to reset. Use the same button you used when you signed up.
If you're not sure which method you used, or you think you may have more than one account, see 🤐 I can't login to my account.
👉 Still need help?
If none of the above solves it, contact the Shotgun Care team.
